Hi all, I'm a little over a month out from my third GMAT attempt and am looking for some feedback on my remaining study strategy to optimize study time over the next 4-5 weeks.
Background:
- Started studying this past April/May and fell into a rut over the summer with quant, studying 10-11 hours per day with minimal results
- Completed every question in the OGs and have been through most of TTP
- Have taken a few of the official practice GMATs - in chrono order: 690 - Q48V36; 730 - Q48V41; 710 - Q47V40; 750 - Q49V42
- Took the official test twice this summer within 3 weeks of each other (710 - Q44V44; 710 - Q45V42)
- Targeting Q50V45
Early in my studying the quant came relatively easy and I got the two 48s on the mock test without a whole lot of prep. As I've prepped more on quant, my score has peculiarly gone down, and my two worst quant scores by far have been during the actual sitting. During both tests, it felt like I froze up, was jittery, and when things went sideways I got upset. My verbal has gone up (fingers crossed) without nearly as much prep as I've put in on quant.
Since the two official attempts, I've:
- Taken about a month away from all prep to reset
- Nearly completed TTP, including reading most lessons, completing almost all chapter tests, and reading all of the strategy lessons
- Made some flashcards for quant
- Reviewed both of my ESRs in detail (but haven't had anyone else look - happy to post them here)
- Listened to a number of strategy podcasts and read various blogs (incl TTP) on managing anxiety and other test day strategies
- Started meditating and practicing some visualization
With the time between now and the third attempt, I am aiming to:
- Finish all TTP chapter tests in their entirety, along with all mission and global reviews
- Take a few GMATClub quant CATs and the full length test
- Complete the Manhattan RC and SC books - have heard they're solid - RC in particular was my achilles heel on verbal
- Review every OG question I missed in detail (I kept a list)
- Take a final official mock test
I'm hoping to sanity check this strategy and get some feedback. I've put hundreds of hours into studying but given the little progress I've made I'm thinking my actual studying has been inefficient, so want to use the remaining time as well as I can. Some questions in particular:
- How should I prioritize the above remaining items? Is there anything I'm missing or anything I should let go of?
- Is it worth completing every TTP chapter test and getting to 100% of the course? Sometimes the practice questions there just "feel" different than official GMAT questions...hard to explain
- Thoughts on using the GMATClub quant CATs in conjunction with the rest of my study?
- How much time should I spending on reviewing old OG questions vs. everything else?
- Given all of this background, are my score goals realistic?
Thanks in advance.
