Hi Yadunathpatel003,

I'm sorry to hear about how things have been going with your GMAT prep. I see you have a number of questions, but I'm happy to give you some general advice on how to move forward.

Regarding improving your GMAT skills, my biggest piece of advice is to ensure you are studying topically. In other words, be sure to focus on just ONE quant or verbal topic at a time and practice just that topic until you achieve mastery. If you can study that way, you will start seeing incremental improvement.

For example, let's say you are studying Number Properties. First, you'll need to learn all you can about that topic, and then practice only Number Property questions. After each problem set, thoroughly analyze your incorrect questions. For example, ask yourself why if you got a remainder question wrong. Did you make a careless mistake? Did you not properly apply the remainder formula? Was there a concept you did not understand in the question?

By carefully analyzing your mistakes, you will be able to fix your weaknesses efficiently and, in turn, improve your GMAT quant skills. Number Properties is just one example; follow this process for all quant and verbal topics.

For some more tips on the best way to structure your studying, here is a great article:

Good luck!

Whatever you do, don't give up. For RC & CR which feeds into data insights read a lot off the computer. Use LSAT materials to prep for CR. You've got this. A test is not a determination of your intelligence level or your capabilities. You can beat it.

@Yadunathpatel003,

First, let me say that I completely understand the frustration and exhaustion you're feeling right now. You are not alone in this journey. Many of our most successful students have walked this exact path - feeling overwhelmed despite putting in significant hours, questioning their preparation, and doubting their abilities. The fact that you've dedicated 259 hour to your GMAT preparation shows your commitment, and that dedication will pay off when channeled correctly.

Let's Get to the Root of the Issue:

Your mock scores (325 → 315) are simply a reflection of gaps in your foundational learning process. Instead of focusing on the scores themselves, let's identify where the real issues lie.

I need you to check something important:

Your Learning Analytics:
  1. Activity Level & Learning Level Grades: If you've truly spent 259 hours on our platform, you should have at least 400+ activity level points and 40+ Learning Level Grades. Can you share your current Learning Level grades specifically for:
    • Critical Reasoning (CR)
    • Reading Comprehension (RC)
These grades are the foundation of your verbal success and will tell us exactly where the gaps are.
  2. Your Cementing Scores: This is crucial. Can you share your cementing quiz scores for the topics you've completed? Specifically:
    • Number Properties cementing scores (both Medium and Hard)
    • Critical Reasoning cementing scores
    Remember:
    • Medium cementing quizzes require 70% or above
    • Hard cementing quizzes require 50% or above
If you haven't achieved these thresholds, that's exactly why your mock scores aren't improving.

Here's What You Need to Understand

Your mock scores are simply the OUTPUT of your learning process. They're not the problem - they're the symptom. When you fix your:
  • Learning Level grades
  • Cementing scores
  • Process skills

Your mock scores will automatically improve. This is not magic - it's our proven methodology that has helped thousands of students succeed!
