Finally I appeared ......but the result was way beyond my expectations.
Here is the breakdown:
Q49 - 90%
V38 - 85%
710 - 94%
I was planning to appear for the test around last week of April but because of a mandatory certification exam (schedule by my employer) in the third week of April..i had to reschedule my test this week ( 2nd week).
Which means I hardly prepared for 5 weeks in total. I was afraid that I will score less than 650 but the Princeton/Kaplan tests help me build my confidence.
I took 3 Kaplan CATs: 580, 610,and 710.
4 Princeton Review CATs: 650, 650, 710, 680.
My appointment was at 8:00 am and I reached the center around 7:25. The clerk gave me a hard time. She asked for my passport although I had a valid US drivers licence. My appointment letter never mentioned about carrying a pssport. She showed me a GMAT booklet requiring non-citizens to produce passport. She said that I can start the test late but I need to get my passport. Lucky for me though that I stay hardly 10 miles from the test center. I went home, grabbed my passport and returned . I started the test around 8:30. (Well not a good way to start an important day!!!)
AWA essays were ok and I spent around 25 minutes on each. After the section I didnt take any break and started Quants.
The first question was pretty tough (geometry- i spent around 8 minutes) still couldn't reach a solution so decided to skip it.Next question was tough as well. Spent around 7 minutes. SO in total I spent 15 minutes for the first 2 questions. I thought I won't do good in the test.I was nervous. But after that somehow the flow came. Rest 35 questions I completed in around 54 minutes. Probably I could have scored more in this section but somehow since I lost so much time solving the initial 2 questions, I was not willing to spend more than 2 minutes on any other question.
After quants I took a break, the clerk started to show me some more documents proving that she was correct and she didnt mean to bother me..blah blah!!!! Anyways I returned back in 5 minutes for the next section.
It started with 2 SCs, one on subject-verb agreement and another on misplaced modifier. These was followed by CRs, SC , again CR, etc etc....I completed the section in 73 minutes. Was not convinced with my performance.Even thought of cancelling my test once !! Lucky I didnt!!!
Finally , I viewed my score and to my delight the score was 710.....I am very happy since I didnt put much effort....5 weeks with just 2 hours of effort on weekdays and 4 hours on weekends.
Now I need your precious advice on where to apply. I have 5.5 yrs of work exp ( 4 yrs in US) ..have a GPA > 3.8.
