Yes, today was my real GMAT test day. I had been studying day and night, about 10 hours a day for about 2 and a half month and I did it today!
Well, it was much tougher than GMATprep or the OG quant section. I got 600 (Q45 and V28). I was expecting near 650 but today was not my day actually
Friday, the 13!!!
Last night, before I went to bed suddenly I had fever. It was not due to worry but may be it was due to overexertion of last few days and sudden weather changes here. I could not sleep until 4:00 am in the morning and woke up at 5:30 am, just 1 and a half hour sleep! I got ready for my test and went there (about 1 hour train ride). I was feeling unwell and feverish in the morning. But I didn't want to cancel my test.
My test started at 8:30 am and I didn't take any break. I was feeling so sick that I thought if I take a break perhaps I will not be able to do further. I have no problem with sitting and taking test for 4 hours. I was studying at home for more than 2 months and almost daily 4 to 5 hours at a stretch, then lunch and some rest and then again 4-5 hours.
Essays: Excellent! I could do both in given time. Essays made me feel little lighter and prepared me for my next Quant section.
Quant: I was doing really good in GMATPrep Math, getting 49 most of the time. I was pretty sure that I would land somewhere near this score. But the questions were very difficult. I have never seen such problems before. I have done OG -I and II (total 700 questions) more than two times. My speed was just fine.....no problem at all regarding speed.
Verbal: same level of difficulty as in OG. I was getting 27, 28 in GMATprep. No matter how hard I studied, I could never go up. I got 28 on real test.
I didn't know anything about GMAT before Jan-15th, 2007. I started studying from Feb, 2007. I also started preparing for my IELTS together. I touched Math after 20 years. Last time I did it in my High school.
I studied GMAT and IELTS both, almost 9 to 10 hours daily for about 2 and a half month (but no weekend studies due to family obligations).
I must thank this forum which is a must-do for all test-takers. I learnt many techniques. I thank to Fig, ricokevin, Amardeep, Kevincan, and many other friends who helped me a lot in Math questions.
Now my question is:
What does my score 600 mean? Does it show I am an average student? (My academic qualifications are top-class throughout).
The B-school I am going to apply requires 595 average score. Well, where do you see my chances of admission there? My GPA is 3.6 on scale 4. I have two master degrees, one in Computers and other in Education. I have two years of full-time work experience. I am expecting band score more than 7 in my IELTS.
It is 3:00 pm here. Now my daughter is back from her school. After giving her some snacks I am going to bed to take some rest.

I think that the lack of sleep makes u under perform, for sure. I'm feeling sorry to read u on it... It's just sad to have it the night before the G Day. What were your practice test scores? If almost all are above 650, I would highly recommand u to give this GMAT another shot in 1 month
Concerning your chance to be in your target school, I think that your GMAT score would not be an issue. You are on the average of the school

Thanks for your reply! You are right. I was doing pretty good in prep tests and scoring near 650...especially Q49 most of the time....Verbal did not improve as I mentioned in one post.
I too feel that today my brain was not working at its real speed or capacity due to my sudden sickness. I was surprised too. Because tests never scare me, just a little nervous as compare to other people as I am taking many tests every year.
Last year I took Japanese Proficiency Level Test-3 and scored 86%, last to last year it was TEFL and I got 96%...., also SUN Java certification or so....but I never had such health problem like I had last night. I think this time I overstretched myself in order to get a good score which backfired me just before my big day ...anyways, I know if I didn't have this health problem I would have got more than 630 today but not more than 660-670. (I know where I stand )
But I thank to God that I didn't score in 500s (even 595 means a low score for me)
I have no time left for my next attempt. My application deadline is May 7th and my B-School required me to appear in GMAT before April 20th.
Let's see if my application essays and my pretty high GPA with this average GMAT really help me to see myself in 2007 class

and thank you for sharing your experience with us - This is inspirational, I suddenly feel as if I don't have much to focus on apart from the GMAT.
