From the question stem we know that a * b = prime
the only way to get a prime if one of the variables is 1 and the other is a prime (2,3,5 etc..)
Statement 1) can be rewritten as 1 < a < 3
As a result we know a > b so a = 2 and b = 1. Sufficient
Statement 2) it says a*b = even
The only even prime is 2 and a > b so a = 2
Sufficient.
