I'm an incoming part-time MBA student at NYU, and looking to go into product management. Worked in investment banking for a couple years, but now interested in tech. There's really only 4 core roles in tech - software engineering, data science, UX/UI Design, and product management. And given my limited (self-taught) coding experience, product management seems to be the best way to break in.
Thing is, I have 0 product experience and internships haven't been accessible - many of them require product experience as well! Truly frustrating. I've been looking into upcoming case challenges at NYU, but I also discovered recently ProductChallenger (cant post link here, but google "productchallenger" and it should be the 3rd or 4th result).
From what I understand, teams of MBAs and other product management job seekers solve case challenges, hosted by various companies. NYU's case challenges tend to attract Amazon, Microsoft and a few other large companies, but not smaller companies like Twitch, Intuit or Twilio (they don't have big budgets for on-campus recruiting). If anything I think ProductChallenger's cases will be particularly helpful in off-campus recruiting for PM positions.
I'm considering doing these challenges before recruiting season starts, but having trouble finding teammates. Would anyone else here be interested in solving company cases with me?
