Hi Experts,
I have taken my first GMAT in the training center. I was really disappointed with my result as it is just 600 (47 Q and 27 V), 7 IR and 4.5 AWA! However, my last official gmat mock tests were 650 and 640. I want to apply for January intake in top schools in Europe. I need minimum 650, better 680. I am from Russia. I work in international oil company (4 years abroad and the last year in Russia). I have BSc (3.1 GPA) and MSc (3.9 GPA) in geophysics (Russian university).
I bought ERS result and I was very surprised. I answered 100% CR questions correctly (it was 70-90% usually in my mock tests), 55 % SC correctly (approximately the same in mock tests), and only 5% RC correctly (usually I answered around 50% correctly in my mock tests).
RC was always my weakest point, as I am not native speaker. Very often I don`t know the meaning of some words, but I understand the main idea of a sentence. My accuracy in RC depends on the text. Sometimes if I understand a passage very well, I get correct answers very easily even in 700 difficulty questions. But I have a real problem with long and difficult passages. Even I understand words, I find it very difficult sometimes to understand what author wants to say. So, on my GMAT I got long passages and I tried to use this strategy - read 1st paragraph and first 2 sentences in each of the following paragraph. Obviously, it failed. Moreover, I think I was very nervous and I was rushing. I couldn`t focus properly. May be it was additional problem.
Could any one give me a direction where I should move and what to do? I know I have to read as much as I can. I read NYT everyday, write down the word, which I don`t know, and I have finished all questions 2 times in OG. Now, I am using GMAT official advanced questions. I have been preparing for GMAT already for 6 months. I spend all my free time for it.

I'm sorry to hear that Test Day did not turn out better. When these types of score drops occur, the two likely "causes" involve either something that was unrealistic during practice or something that was surprising (or not accounted for) on Test Day. Before we discuss any of those potential issues though, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:
1) How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far besides the OG? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
4) What Schools are you planning to apply to and what specific application deadlines are you facing?
While the Enhanced Score Report doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). Since you have purchased the ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you. Before you can include attachments with your posts/PMs, you need to have at least 5 posts in the forums (right now, you have 1 post).
