Hi Enrik,

I think a month may be tight, but just work as hard as you can in the next 30 days, and let's see what happens. Regarding how to move forward with your studying, here is a great article you can check out:

Hi Enrik,

Raising a 420 to the point that you can consistently score 550+ will take some serious work (and that training might take longer than 1 month). Thankfully, the GMAT is a consistent, predictable Exam, so you CAN train to score at a higher level - and you do NOT need to correctly answer any of the hard/weird questions to earn a 550 (meaning that you have to be disciplined enough to quickly 'dump' questions that you do not think that you can correctly answer).

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far?

Goals:
3) What is the exact application deadline that you are facing?
4) If you do not score at least a 550, will you still apply at that time or will you apply later on?

EMPOWERgmatRichC thank you for your help.
well.. I took the mock exam without any preparation, just to have an idea of my starting point, and I scored 420( q26 V22)
Yesterday I bought the GMAT OG, and I plan to study an average of 20-25 hours per week.
The application deadline for the master I want to apply for is June 1, however I booked the test for the end of march because I still have to graduate from my bachelor degree and I have to take 3 exams in June+ my bachelor thesis, so the only moment that I could study for the test is this month.
If I don't get the minimum required score, I still plan to apply for the master in April, as it is not mandatory to have the GMAT score at the moment of the application.
So now, to be more specific, I have around 3 weeks more or less to prepare for the GMAT in order to get a minimum of 550( 600+ would be better), starting from the initial score of 420 without any preparation.
Thank you again for your help!

Hello everyone,
I’m not a native English, i have to take my GMAT exam in 1 month, i need to score at least 550 and i have only 1 month to prepare it (because the application deadline for the master i want to apply for is in 1 month).
I took my first official mock without studying, just to have an idea of my starting point, and i scored only 420, Q26 V22.
How much can i improve in 1 month?
Do you have any advice?
Thank you in advance

Hi Enrik,

Your prep depends on a number of factors, such as the time you can devote each day, the resources you use for learning, your target score, when you plan to take the GMAT and so on.

I'd suggest having a clear study plan that helps you prepare in a structured manner. Start learning the concepts, the application of concepts and the methodologies, and then move on to practicing questions. Keep reviewing your performance and adjusting your approach as necessary. This article will give you a good idea on how to go about it ->

In terms of improvement - it is going to be possible to improve 100 points in the first month.... more than 100 is very hard, to be realistic.
There may be some fluctuation that you may able to pull out 550 you are looking for but in general, it will be a significant challenge to go from 420 to 530 in just a month. Not impossible but you will have to put in more effort than 98% of all other people usually do and that's a tall order. Sorry, I wish I could tell you it would be a walk in the park, just want you to be realistic and have proper expectations for better planning while you still have the time.
