Yesterday i sit my first gmat test (from mba.com) to see where i stand in the quant section and surprisingly i got a 48.I was aiming for a 45.My original diagnostic was 37 but back then i didn't even know what a prime number is .
I still haven't gone through geometry, probability and statistics and i got around 12 questions of content which i still haven't gone through.I answered 21 correct out of 37 and still got a 48. 80% of the mistakes i made were either on statistics or geometry. I also checked that i only got 2 questions correct out of luck.I also was bad at time and skipped 2 questions which i got wrong but hey it was my first timed test.
I will also buy the gmat club tests when i finish geometry and statistics and go through mgmat advanced quant book.Is it possible to score a 49-50 quant? I never felt conformable with maths and i believe this score is an outlier.

Thats really good. Congrats on getting a 48 in your first timed test. I feel that Statistics is really important, I got 3-4 questions directly or indirectly relating to statistics in my real GMAT exam. Make sure you complete all the topics. And start taking timed slots of maths questions. Moreover, answering the initial questions right (1-10) boosts your score. Make sure that you don't leave any questions unanswered.
It okay to guess 3-4 questions in the exam, when you know that a question will take more time or you'll not be able to solve it in 2 minutes then make a stipulated guess, mark the answer, and move on.
Gmat club tests are the best maths tests anybody can use to improve the maths score. You should definitely take the.
Fantastic work! At that level, I think you're better off worrying more about Verbal than about Quant. Because your score represents how well you did relative to other test-takers, a high Verbal can actually give you a few more overall points than a high Quant (because a lot of people do very well on Quant, but only a few people do very well on Verbal.) What was your Verbal score on this test?
Don't totally ignore Quant, obviously, especially if a lot of the material is stuff you only learned recently. Keep refreshing it to make sure it 'sticks'. But it might be time to turn your attention primarily to Verbal...
As far as we know, a score calculation is not based on the number of questions you got wrong. The number of easy questions you got wrong doesn't have any influence on your score significantly. However, difficult questions after question 20 have an impact on your score substantially. Depending on practice tests provided by various companies, logic of calculating scores might slightly vary. Please note that mock tests scores tend to be higher than actual GMAT score and we don't recommend solely replying on mock test scores. Although you got 49, we still strongly recommend studying intensely.
In order to leap from 49 to hit 51, you should be strong at solving final hard 4-5 questions which are difficult to solve. We call them CMT questions (Common Mistake Type). In fact, these hard 4-5 CMT questions are given on actual GMAT. If you get 1-2 questions wrong, you can definitely hit 49. Or, if you get 0-1 questions wrong, you can hit 50-51. So, you should get 3-4 right out of hardest 4-5 questions. These questions usually take 4-5 minutes to solve per question. This is a big pressure because we have to solve 37 questions in 75 minutes. However, with our unique Variable approach for DS and IVY approach for PS, you can easily tackle those difficult questions.
