Hi Mattew,

A 570 is a solid 'baseline' score (the average score on the Official GMAT hovers around 540-550 most years). It sounds like you still have plenty of time left to study, so you shouldn't be too concerned just yet. You're actually remarkably close to your score goal right now, so you should continue to study as planned.

Have you had a chance to review this CAT yet? How many questions did you get wrong because of a silly/little mistake? THOSE mistakes are what you have to work to fix (thankfully, they should be the easiest things to fix).

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Hey Rich,
thank you for your response. I haven't reviewed this CAT yet, but of course part of these mistakes is a "silly part". But I am concerned especially about RC. Though I am reading articles from nytimes every ( or almost) day, it's difficult sometimes even to understand what the author is telling... ;s what do you think, is it possible to improve my RC in this time? If I improve my Verbal on GMAT, I am sure, I could reach even high 600 or low 700, or not? ;)

Hey guys,

after 1/3 my studies for GMAT i attended my first Kaplan CAT and scored 570 (is is high/low??), but the problem is within the ratio (Q44V23). I need AT LEAST 620. How could I improve my verbal in my left 120 study-hours?? Thanks a lot!

Mattew

Hey matisch

The SC section is the easiest verbal section to make improvements on. Once you understand how to think and approach this question type, there are only so many ways you can be tested. Here at GMAT Pill we developed the 10 core frameworks which detail the 10 ways to approach GMAT sentence corrections.

Here is a sample video detailing one of the core frameworks: https://www.gmatpill.com/gmat-practice-t ... stion/2184

For CR, we recommend a visual framework approach to help you understand the complex short passages and how each item relates to each other.

Here is a video that describes the approach: https://www.gmatpill.com/criticalreasoni ... Estate.mp4

To improve RC - you really need visual guidance. Don't read articles about how to improve reading. You improve by actually doing or watching someone else do.

That's why you might find these video walkthroughs helpful: https://www.gmatpill.com/practicequestio ... tions.html

Hello,
thanks very much for these links, I hope them to be helpful. Sometimes it's quite problematic for me to understand RC and even CR passages, could you suggest, how could I improve myself in most efficient way (if it's possible..)? Thank you! :)

Hi matisch,

Glad the links were helpful.

One trick for RC to boost your comprehension level is to force yourself to be SUPER excited about the passage -- even if the passage is boring. When you pump yourself up and force yourself to be excited, your brain's ability to absorb and make sense of what you are reading will be better. Also -- be really curious/inquisitive as you read. When you read -- keep asking yourself --"hmm..ok, what's your point?" --this will force yourself to critically read and ask questions in your head. By posing these thoughts in your head, you will start to absorb the meaning better.

Another tip is to pay more attention to key transition words -- we show you exactly how to do this in our videos. Keywords will help prepare your mind for what to expect in the next sentence -and that will help you understand the meaning better.

For more details, we encourage you to sign up and participate in our course -- where the real learning happens.

Hope that helps and good luck!
