Took my first CAT GMAT (
MGMAT) and scored a 460. I skipped IR and AWA. I finished with significant amount of time left in both sections. I admit some problems I knew I could not solve so I guessed, and ones I knew I could get correct I took my time. I ended up finishing the test with an hour to spare in total.
A little background:
- Been going through the
MGMAT prep books rigorously. I had a couple more books left (half way through Sentence Correction and Number Properties, have Geometry left as well as IR & Essay)
- I am KILLING the practice verbal problems. I think out of all the ones I've done, in CR and RC, I've only got a handful wrong.
- Quant has been KILLING me. I am getting only a handful correct.
I take the test today (under horrid circumstances, the gardeners were at it from start to finish) and managed a 460 with to my shock quant being better than my verbal. Here's the breakdown:
Quant
5/15 DS
11/22 PS
Verbal
8/14 CR
6/12 RC
6/15 SC
Clearly my best is CR, but that RC should be at the very least 10/12, so I know I can improve that. SC, like I said, I've only gone through half the study guide book. Once I finish it, I'd like to think that 6/15 would improve. My quant is just a mess. I saw the problems and they looked so familiar, but I could not remember how to tackle them. It was frustrating.
My plan:
1) Review each and every problem from the CAT exam and take notes on my strengths and weaknesses.
2) Finish up SC, NM, and Geometry
3) Go back and work on my weaknesses
I have yet to open up the OG13 book. Should I just follow the problem sets from the back of each
MGMAT books or is there a better study guide I could use? Also, any other tips would be greatly appreciated.
