How much studying did you do beforehand, or did you take it cold?

I had been doing basic studying for a bit, nothing concrete. I bought the Manhattan GMAT quant books and a basic math review book, and went through those first (math isn't my strong suit!). I didn't do much studying for verbal at all, so I can get started at that and focus my studying now.

Hopefully when I take another practice on Saturday I'll get a better score, and show some improvement. Thanks for all the kind words

Most 700+ people seem to start off in the "mid-500s to low-600s" range and work their way up with consistent preparation...I can't recommend the Official Guide enough. It's a killer resource.

Also, remember to keep and refer constantly back to your "errors" log!! I think that alone resulted in a 50-pt increase in my score.

Thanks all. I took my second practice test and got a 600. A small improvement, but it's a start. Seems I made quite a few errors on SC, so I'm gonna focus on that. I'll continue with my quant review, no specific area, just everything in general.
