Yes, time management is a huge factor on the GMAT. So that is something you should definitely work on. But you should also realize that people often underperform on their first test. So when you ask if a 60 point improvement by R2 is aggressive, it's helpful to keep in mind that the score that you just got may not reflect where you truly stand. Obviously you need to deal with whatever issues caused you to run out of time, but if your genuine Quant level is closer to 49-51, then the "improvement" you need may not be as much as you think.

Hi all,

Took the GMAT for the first time today and got a 660 (Q44, V37, IR 8). Pretty disappointed - especially as my Quant scores were typically 50/51. My takeaway from this is that doing practice Questions / exams at home just do not compare to the real thing - I normally dont struggle for time in the Quant, however today had 10 mins to do the last 15 or so questions.

I've realised that I'm probably relying too heavily on a strong quant to bring up the poor Verbal score. I plan to hit the books again, really focus on my weak points (Sentence Correction) and drill the Quant so that my timings aren't off. Is 60 points in 1-2 months too aggressive? Would need this to make the R2 cut-offs.

Hi arahim,

To add to ReasonGMAT's point about the first attempt, you did very well in verbal (and IR), but was that V37 in line with your scores on the official practice tests? Or did you see a score drop there as well?

For what it's worth, V37 (81%) is not that far from Q50 (86%).

Hi arahim,

660 is still not a bad start. With some more prep, I think you can hit your score goal. With that in mind, here is an article you can check out that provides advice on your path forward:
