#1. Idiomatic. Used frequently... C D out because of ambiguous reference fot 'it'. B out due to incorrect tense.
"Five fledging sea eagles left their nests in western Scotland this summer, (thus) bringing to 34 the number of wild birds successfully raised since transplants from Norway began in 1975."
#2. 'that' is required instead of 'in' here, hence B C D are out. E is passive.
