yeah, you can have a snack during your break - you just need to go into the hallway. i would suggest an apple or PowerBar - good brain boosters. eat a banana in the morning, but at least an hour before the test because they're nutritionally dense and take a while to digest. that could make you a bit sluggish at first, but about an hour after you eat it, it's great brain food.

definitely drink some water or Gatorade (NOT Red Bull - it will make you jittery as hell) during the breaks, but not too much because you don't want to get distracted by your bladder!!

i don't remember if they call you back from breaks - i kept a real close eye on the clock myself. you literally have just enough time to take a sip of water, go to the bathroom, and inhale a snack.

They don't alert you when the time is up. So you have to be careful. The timer on the computer that keeps the 5-minute break time. It will start the test automatically when time is up. I was down to only 10 seconds during my 2nd break.

Also you have to sign in and out!! So it takes time for that too.

Hope it helps!

If I remember correctly the test does not start automatically after the 5 min break. You would have to press a button to start it and then verify your identity and then the next section would start.

You can bring a big mac with you and put it in the locker; not sure if it will actually fit in there . Those things were puny at my center. But to tell the truth, why would you want to have McD's during the GMAT? As though there is not enough crap already.

you make me wonder, Curly
