Longtime lurker here but I've never posted before...
I am aiming to apply round 2 and I'm working through the essays to at least get a first draft down on paper. I showed my wife (she helps the admission committee for medical school) my first pass and she said that my essays might be too colloquial. I understand that I there is a certain level of formality that is required when applying to a professional/graduate school, but I fear that if my essays are too stiff, the admissions committee won't get a good perspective of who I am.
Does anyone have advice or suggestions?

Well, I have a couple of advises for you.
1. Add specific information rather than generic.
2. Make sure you are making a good story and linking everything to your long term and short term goals.
3. Get your essays reviewed by experienced people
4. Look for some B School essay editing service that can help you give it a "BSchool" type look.

Hi there,
The essays are formal pieces of work, but that being said, your voice should be coming through. So, it's really about finding that balance between making sure that the essays are written in a formal way, while being true to your own authentic voice. I hope that helps!
