Hello GMAT club founders, experts, and other members,
I have taken GMAT four times till now, but unfortunately have failed miserably in every attempt.
Following are the scores for my 4 attempts:
Attempt 1: 550(Q48, V19)
Attempt 2: 560(Q48, V don’t remember exactly)
Attempt 3: 620(Q49, V25) Online pattern
Attempt 4: 590(Q46, V25)
I have completed the official strategy guides, taken online courses from
egmat and
experts global, watched Thursdays with Ron for SC, and studied Manhattan SC strategy guide.
I have exhausted all the mock tests available on the market, including 6 GMAC official tests. Ironically, I have scored consistently well in all the mock tests I have taken, with scores ranging from 600 to 740-most of the scores in the range 690-740.
During regular studies, I am able to solve most of the questions correctly. I am assuming that I am well versed with the fundamental concepts of both Quant and Verbal. But something weird happens when attempting the questions during the test. I find myself re-reading the verbal questions and I am unable to arrive at the correct answer for whatever strange reasons. As per my analysis, the problem is either with my preparation or with my test anxiety. But I am not certain which reason actually applies to my case. Had my fundamentals been weak, I would have scored between 550 and 620 in my mocks as well. I understand it is quite difficult to imitate the GMAT scoring algorithm and the official questions, but mocks available on the market do provide some fair estimate of the actual scores. I really don’t understand what approach I must follow here onwards. I have been studying for gmat since April 2019 till now, except for the period between November 2019 and July 2020. I know quality matters over quantity, but I have solved a hell lot of good quality questions. I have solved
egmat scholaranium with an combined accuracy of roughly 75%, which as per most of the
egmat experts and students is a fair estimate of a decent preparation. Come test day, I feel I am not well prepared and something strange happens.
I have exhausted all the resources. I gave my fourth attempt yesterday in a hope that I would score well, but as usual I performed below my level on the test.
Egmat, no doubt is a great platform for gmat preparation and there are numerous success stories on its forum. My problem is with my test taking strategies. I do not understand a single sentence properly during the test.
I am extending my hands for help here in a hope that someone here could provide me his or her valuable suggestions. I am getting married this month, so I have planned to take a break for a couple of months. I was looking forward to receive a decent score before my wedding, but couldn’t achieve my goal.
My background: I work in Schlumberger as a field engineer. I go to field for 30-45 days and get a vacation of at least 10 days. When on field a typical work week consists of 12 hours shift plus 2 hours of travel time.
A special request to all the experts on GMAT CLUB: kindly provide your valuable feedback.
Thanking you all in anticipation.
