Four knots - A, B, C, and D - appear in that order on a straight line. Is the distance between B and D the same as the distance between A and B ?
(1) The distance between A and C is less than the distance between B and D
(2) Half the distance between A and D is the same as the distance between C and D
IMO D,
Given Order is A-B-C-D.
We need to check the distance between A & B is equal to distance between B & D?
1st condition, The distance between A and C is less than the distance between B and D therfore as per given order A-B-C-D, The distance between A & B will never be equal to distance between B & D, as AC is already lesser than BD then AB as well lesser than BD. Hence Sufficient.
2nd condition, Half the distance between A and D is the same as the distance between C and D means AC = CD. Which means The distance between A & B is not equal to distance between B & D. Hence Sufficient.
Both alone sufficient.
