It's a simple question.
The two ratios given are having the same number 3 for B in both the ratios.
Hence- A:B = 2:3 & B:C = 3:4
=> A:C = 2:4 => 1:2. (D)
The question could have a different number also for B in both the ratios given.
For example: A:B = 2:3 & B:C = 4:5
In that case you need to normalize both the ratios so that the common entity (B here) have the same number, so as to come up with the ratio A:C.
In this case, multiply the first (A:B) with 4 => A:B = 8:12
and multiply the second (B:C) with 3 => B:C = 12:15
Hence A:C = 8:15
Remember- multiplying a ratio with a same number does not impact it.
becasue A:B = 2:3 essentially is A/B = 2/3 and 2/3 can be re-written as (2*4)/(3*4) = 8/12.
