Hi everyone,
First off, here's my background:
- first timer for taking GMAT
- plan to study 3 months for GMAT, then another 3 months for MBA applications
- GMAT goal: 700
- currently working full time and trying to fit 2 hrs/weeknight + 10 hrs weekends
I just started studying for the GMAT about a week ago when I received my set of 8
MGMAT books and OG13 books. Without studying, I did the practice test through
MGMAT and got a score of
520 (Q34, V27). Not great since I'm aiming for
700!
Reviewing my results, I don't think I have anything think that is particularly weak - I have a relatively equal amount of questions wrong for each question type. This makes it hard to study!
My plan is to go through all 8 books sequentially to learn the strategies.
So far, I've spent about 4 days to go through the first book (FDPs) and did a few OG questions and the
MGMAT practice bank of FDPs. What I've learned so far is a bunch of strategies that would help me BUT when I do the questions in the book and online, I get about 50-70% of them correct and I don't feel too comfortable about this.
Can anyone tell me if I'm doing something wrong in my studies? Should I just do OG questions and for those that I don't know, then do I only refer back to the
MGMAT book? It feels like I spent too long on learning strategies but not really implementing them enough. I also have a lot more to cover with the rest of the books!
THanks!
