I think it is D.

The argument says:
while Fred is right in supposing that most successful film directors work with famous actors, his conclusion is not warranted.
and then provides evidence of kathlees to base the above conclusion.

The argument mistakenly assumes that Fred is talking about all famous directors and tries to criticize the conclusion on the basis of one director.

Fred argued that, since Kathlees is a successful film director, she has probably worked with famous actors. But, while Fred is right in supposing that most successful film directors work with famous actors, his conclusion is not warranted. For, as he knows, Kathlees works only on documentary films, and directors of documentaries rarely work with famous actors.

Which one of the following strategies is used above to criticize Fred's reasoning?

A. maintaining that too little is known about Kathleen to justify any
conclusion

"too little" is not right. It is known that Kath is a film director and also known that she directs documentary films.

B. showing that Kathleen must not have worked with famous actors

This is NOT the strategy; this simply refutes what Fred is saying.

C. claiming that Fred has failed to take relevant information into account

Right - Because fred has failed to take relevant information (viz. that Kath works only on documentary films and that documentary film directors rarely work with well known actors) his conclusion that Kathlees works with well known actors is mistaken.

D. showing that Fred has mistakenly assumed that all successful film directors work with famous actors

Whether Fred mistakenly or deliberately assumed it is irrelevant to the strategy employed by the argument in criticizing Fred.

E. demonstrating that Fred has failed to show that most successful film directors work with famous actors

Again this is NOT the strategy but the conclusion of the argument.
