Thats a good point actually. Plenty of people who buy the whole set of MGMAT books only use one of the books (obviously) to unlock the tests. I bought a couple of these books second hand and the tests were unused (the book was unregistered). So look around, you might pick up a secondhand book (altough they are inexpensive as is) for cheap.

So when some people state the inaccuracy of some CATs, they either mean that you will tend to score higher on the real thing/GMATPrep or lower - what is the consensus for the MGMAT ones?

Because I just took the free one and got 620 - first time I actually got over 600, so I'm pretty excited :P But I did feel like I guessed on a lot of q's, I didn't feel too confident in the Quant section, and Verbal seemed a little confusing too, so I have no idea how I got a 620.

Also..Is there anyone out there that is comfortable with selling me access to the rest of the MGMAT tests via their prep books for a lower price?

The general consensus is that the MGMAT tests are more difficult than the real deal and the scores *on average* are lower than what you could expect to see on GMAT Prep or the actual GMAT

Also, I know that Kaplan CATs are not popular around here, but if worse comes to worse, should I just complete more of these? Will they totally ruin my self esteem? lol

It's more than just the skewed scoring, it's the fact that it does a poor job of emulating the GMAT CAT. In essence, you're practice on Kaplan CATs are less efficient than on other CATs.

The PR CATs are a lot closer to the real thing than Kaplan or even MGMAT if you ask me. I would definitely do them. Well, do all of them, but yeah, don't let Kaplan scores in particular freak you out.

I found the PR verbal to be on par with actual gmat & mgmat quant to be slightly more difficult (some more so than others) than actual gmat. but I think these two are the closest other than the priceless GMATPrep.
