In this question, we are given that
    • From 1908 to 1912, the total production capacity of industry W declined from 18,000 units per year to 13,000 units per year

To find
We need to determine
    • The approximate percent decrease in total production capacity for industry W during this time period

Approach and Working out
Production capacity at the beginning = 18k units
Production capacity at the end = 13k units
    • Hence, percentage reduction in production capacity = (18k – 13k)/18k * 100 = 5/18 * 100 = 27.78%

Thus, option E is the correct answer.
