I just wanted to say thanks for the help that GMAT Club provided in my journey to get to 700 yesterday. I know this is not the best score but something I can definitely live with. I have been studying on and off for the last year. I took the test last March with barely any studying and got a 630. I took it again in September after a lot of studying and using Knewton and got a 650, with a Q39 V41. After the 650, I bought the MGMAT books and reviewed all the math study guides in order to learn the basics. I have always been absolutely horrible at math and pretty good at verbal so I did no verbal study whatsoever. I worked through these guides and learned a lot but I must also give a lot of credit to the math book and flashcards here on GMAT Club. I took every topic and every formula and wrote them down on flash cards that I would study at work, at other people's houses, etc... I seriously think learning all these formulas is what helped me drastically improve my score. I got many questions yesterday, like an overlapping set with 3 different groups question, that because I knew all the formula's from the GMAT Club math book, the problems were very easy. My final score was 700 Q44 V41, my math score was 66% but I am pretty confident that this is the best I can do. I put in hundreds of hours of math practice and never really broke Q44 even in practice. Thanks again guys!

Congrats Steven! I'll be sitting for the exam on the 18th. Were there any quant question types that seemed to pop up more than others? Was it much harder than GMAT prep tests? Also, were the sentence correction questions much different from OG or MGMAT CATs? I'd really appreciate you insight. Once again, great job and best of luck in your applications.

The questions were very much like GMAT Prep tests. They were really not any harder. I had been scoring 690-710 in practice with around a Q44. So really there were no surprises. I only took 2 MGMAT practice tests because the math was much too hard. The MGMAT tests give many questions that are 700-800 level even when you are missing easier ones. The big difference between the real and the practice tests was the stamina required for the real thing. I am a pretty good writer so I never practiced the AWA at all. On test day I breezed through the math doing great with timing but when I got to the verbal I was totally exhausted. I was having to think long and hard about every question. The eight minutes between sections is not enough. It takes the proctor at least three minutes to log you in and out and check your palm print so you really only have about 5 minutes to use the restroom and scarf down some caffeine/food. I took the test at 1215 because I'm not a morning person but by mid-afternoon without my afternoon Monster energy drink I was so tired. They also had an experimental section right after the verbal that I basically just blew off. I was so mentally drained after the verbal that I just basically clicked through the questions so I could hurry and get my score.
I found that one of the big things that distracted me throughout the test was trying to figure out how well I was doing. When I got an easy question I would get very nervous that I was doing bad. I got a couple questions that were very difficult and that I had no idea how to solve and I just guessed on them right away. I think this is one of the biggest takeaways for me after three tests. Don't try to answer a problem if you have no idea where to even start. It will take 5 minutes of your time and you will still probably get it wrong. Guess right away and move on. Another thing I did was during the instructions I wrote down every formula I could think of on the front of my notepad, this will save time and brain bytes during the test.
