Thank you for the compliments.

Best wishes to all of you who are either taking the exam for the 1st time or retaking it for the ... times. I believe if you have a faith in your self and a determination, you will achieve your goal.

Below is the summary of my exciting GMAT experiences:

Part I
I took my first GMAT in July, and I received 640 (47Q and 30V).
I was very disappointed with my low Verbal score. I had been studying for several months before July using a variety of books (OG 11, OG Verbal and Math, Kaplan, Princeton, Arco - you name it, and I might have it). Instead of being patience with each problem and practice test, I tended to rush through the practice questions with a set of mind that I had to finish as many problems as I could. After receiving the score (unfortunately), I came to a realization that all I had done for the past two months was not an effective method of learning Verbal. I did not seem to bother getting to know the concept behind every Verbal questions, and I was not patience enough to understand and read the questions carefully.

Part II
So, I made up my mind to create a 1.5 months Verbal study plan. I learned about GMATTER from the GMATCLUB forum. I tried to download the program, and I based my study plan from GMATTER. I would try to do 30 SC, 30 CR, and 2 to 3 passages during the weekdays and more problems during the weekends. I tried to spent as much time as possible in understanding most of the mistakes that I made. Although it was hard to follow this plan completely from day 1 to day 45, I tried to complete at least 80% SC, CR, and RC questions. I felt that this method worked for me. Today, during the exam, I felt more confident in doing the verbal section than before. I was shocked when I saw my verbal score, a magic 14 points increase (from 30 to 44). I still could not believe what I saw.
All the efforts and times that were put into this Verbal improvement plan actually worked.

As for Quantitative, I only reviewed Math - using Manhattan GMAT books- one week before the exam. I am happy enough that my Quant score stills the same.

I hope this helps. =)

Great. Your score is an inspiration on all those who are considering retaking after getting mid 600's in the first test.

See you have not only got yourself a great GMAT score but also learned how to get back up on the saddle once down on a ground!

So you literally did 30 SC/CR and some RC every single day?

From my experience, Manhattan GMAT prepares you for the basic concept. And that was what I needed the most to improve my Verbal. After I learned the concept and did MGMAT exercises, I used GMATTER as my Verbal bootcamp. I literally did at least 30 to 40 SC and CR everyday because I know those two were my weaknesses. I tried to practiced 2 to 4 RC passage per day at the beginning. However, I was not able to complete the RC due to time constraint. Some times I thought my plan was very aggressive or I was too hard on myself. It was hard to study during the summer. However, after all said and done, I did not regret of those summer days that have gone away. =)

GMATPrep is very essential practice test for real exam simulation. Please do practice GMATPrep before taking test.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions!
