Thanks Rich,

I did both the tests in real test like conditions. However, I came across several questions on the GMAC prep software that I had not seen before (even in the OG)! Reviewing my concepts this week and plan to re-take the mock test this weekend.

I am lost now since an increase from 540 to 700 range might not be possible in a month's time- which is when I planned to write the test!

Will keep you posted.

Hello Everyone,

I scored 650 in MGMAT test after 2.5 months of studying. However, took the GMAC Prep test and scored 540!
I was extremely taken aback by the results.

Could this be an anomaly or I am at the 540 level since the GMAC test is more indicative of the real test????

I have around 20 days to write the test and looking out for strategies that will help me. How could I improve on this?

Thanks

Hi Starpeople,

I would recommend you to take a GMATPrep mock CAT again to asses your level. However you should study for 4-5 days and analyse your mistakes from the CAT before taking the CAT again. If you have given both the tests in realistic conditions, it is always a possibility that you just ad an off day.

Did you give the test at uncomfortable times? Early in the morning or late in night
Did you give the test after a busy day?

All these factors do count on the GMAT. Make sure that you are fresh when you sit for the test.

Thanks you everyone for the responses.

I reviewed the CAT questions and realised, many of them in the quant section were usual! Haven't come across similar questions in the OG/MGMAT guides. Worried because these were the official GMATPrep test questions.

I plan to take the mock test this weekend after going through the key topics and practicing a few questions again.

What were your Quants scores in both the tests?

Hi Starpeople,

The specific answers to my prior questions might help to better define the exact situation that you're facing. When you mention these questions that you were unfamiliar with, you might want to post those same questions in the Forums here (or search for them) - in that way, you can see how the Experts and other Site Users deal with those prompts.

Your CAT sores show a big variation in Quants. It would be better that you take a full length CAT this weekend to assess your current standing.
Sit for a GMAT Prep CAT.

You can buy the exam pack1 from mba.com if you have run out of tests.
