Hello all!
I just want to start by saying thank you for taking time to read this post. It's my first post of many to come as I will start studying for the GMAT in the upcoming years. I've recently graduated from an ivy league university and feel incredibly grateful for the opportunities and resources I've been given, and I was hoping for your opinion on my chances for MBA programs at the M-7 as well as Tuck, SOM, and Fuqua.
Stats:
- honors program at a community college with an associates degree in business administration (gpa: 4.0)
- transferred to an ivy league university studying finance (non-Wharton) (gpa: 3.8 and a concentration gpa of a 4.0)
- interned at a small boutique IB and a top seven investment management firm as an equity research summer analyst
- returning to the investment management firm as an equity research associate for FT
- haven't taken the GMAT, but will be working hard to be within the (700's)
first generation American/college student
Story:
I found my passion of investing during high school. However, I realized, by the end of graduation, that the schools in my state didn't necessarily provide an opportunity to work within equities. Additionally, I didn't have the financial capacity to go to these universities in my state, let alone going out of state. A local community college's honors program offered me a full ride, and I spent two years going to school full time, working part time, and doing internships where I eventually graduated with a 4.0. I then transferred to an ivy league university, seeing as the opportunities on wall street for equity research were abundant, afterwards. I spent a summer working at a small boutique investment bank and the next summer working at a large IM firm doing equity research where I'll be returning full time. Overall goal is to continue in buy-side equity research through an MBA rather than a CFA.
This is a brief rundown over my journey. Do I have the stats and story for a top program? Thank you!
