Hello all,
I have been prepping seriously for two months or so now. I took a GMATPrep CAT today and got a 700 (44Q, 41V)
I missed 5 questions on the verbal portion. Additionally, the verbal questions were the toughest I have ever had (by a large margin).
I missed 10 questions on the quant portion. The quant questions were also the toughest I had ever seen for GMATPrep.
I know that the algorithm is complex, but can anybody shine a light on this? I took a GMATPrep CAT a month and a half ago and got a 700 (48Q, 38V) but got 14 incorrect on quant and 13 incorrect on verbal.
The first attempt, I got 27 total questions incorrect--the questions also seemed pretty easy. The second attempt, I got 15 total questions incorrect--all of the questions seemed difficult.

People who get very high scores do usually get more questions right. But that's just a symptom, it's not actually the reason they got a high score.
My advice: don't worry about the number of questions you got right or wrong overall. Worry about differences among content types (I missed way more geometry than algebra! etc.) and worry about the easiest problems you missed.
