Hi GMAT Experts,

I need help to explain the basic concept of Comparison below :
-> They run faster than does my friend Billy

is it correct ? what's the difference with this :
-> They run faster than my friend Billy does

do the above sentences have different meaning?

I want to ask also these sentences below :
-> I enjoy travelling more than I like to stay at home

I know that the above sentence is incorrect because need to be parrallel, are these corrections below also still incorrect ?
-> I enjoy travelling more than I like staying at home
-> I enjoy to travel more than I like to stay at home

For purposes of parallelism you want the order of the subject and the verb to be the same with each of these, or whenever you're making a comparison. So here, they is the subject, run is the verb, Billy is the subject, does is the verb.

Holy Yellow Highlighter~~~! I get the point :wink:

. As you know, the first one is incorrect. Should be I enjoy travelling more than staying at home
YES - these other two are also wrong.
We have to compare like terms only. Cannot compare I enjoy to I like. Need to compare enjoying one thing to enjoying another thing.

This relates to what I call the fork concept. The subject is the handle and the prongs are the verbs

I enjoy travelling more than staying at home, sitting on my bum, watching the tele, eating crisps.

As for "I enjoy to travel" that is just flat out wrong right from the get-go because we need an ING verb after enjoy here. Would never say enjoy + to.
Enjoy + verb-ING.

Thanks for your helping.. that helps me.

Once I got any answer of my confussion, I always try to make formula in order to get the next question right without doubt.
Because I am a non native speaker and maybe I don't have enough basic concept like the concept you explain above, I wonder why the verb "enjoy" should be followed by verb-ing?

What are the other verbs that should be followed by verb-ing like "enjoy"?

I want to clarify my formula about we cannot compare I enjoy to I like which is
can I say that :
We can not compare two different verb
So I can not also compare I like to I love and then I can not compare I run to I walk as in the sentence "I run faster than I walk".
