It would be great if anyone can give me their insights on the predicament that I have right now.
I got admitted at Fuqua and McCombs with $70K (tution at McCombs is 10k lower). My post MBA goal is to get into consulting at MBB/Deloitte or tech in case I don't make it at MBB/Deloitte. According to the info that I have gathered, Fuqua is by far the better school for consulting(MBB numbers are very low at McCombs, infact McKinsey did not hire anyone at McCombs this year). But who knows if I can make it at MBB, right?
Will $50,000 matter in long run? Does Fuqua's brand value really help me post graduation after the first job?

If You are serious about MBB (which is a gamble but still) Fuqua will give you the better shot (much better). McKinsey and others have offices on Fuqua campus with reps attending classes and available for networking. It will be much easier to recruit.

Whether you make it to MBB or not, it'll be nice to have a good shot at it.
Go with Fuqua. The extra money spent will be worth it in the long run.. and you'll not have any regrets about having a real shot at MBB.

I agree that it is a gamble, but it feels good to have at least a shot at it. Also,I felt that McCombs is more of a regional school and Fuqua has its presence nationwide, maybe because of the larger class size. Do you agree?

Thank you for your suggestion. Also what matters to me is the international reputation and Fuqua wins hands down on that front.

I think Fuqua is better decision. Fuqua is better brand and I think Fuqua has more alumni working in MBB.

Good luck.

Depends on what city you want to live in. If you want to live in Dallas or Houston, MBB definitely recruit from McCombs, and I have quite a few friends who attended McCombs that work for those firms. I personally would go with McCombs, because I enjoy the low cost of living in Texas.

$25k per year is not horrible to get a much better shot at MBB and up your rankings/prestige/etc. you are already investing 300k with opportunity cost and tuition. But I don’t feel it is black and white.

In terms of your last question, brand and how it helps you after graduation. It is hard to tell sometimes since your resume may be picked from a pile due to Fuqua (Duke) name or due to your achievements. At the same time I feel, most jobs after the first one are based on networking and professional accomplishments. However, it sets a good tone when you can say, I have a 99th percentile on the GMAT or I went to a top 10 MBA. First impressions are important but how do you value them?
