GMAT Club Tests' Official Explanation:
A. The sentence is grammatically wrong: two parallel verbs “have gained” and “are developing” are joined by a comma - a conjunction is required instead to make the sentence grammatically correct.
Since “characters” is inanimate, “who” cannot be used to refer to “characters”.
B. The word “since” is wrongly used. “Since” is used to depict a point of time in the past, not a period: example:
Correct: Since Wednesday…
Wrong: Since three days…
C. Verb “have gained” and present participle “developing” are wrongly used in parallel.
D. The word “since” is wrongly used. “Since” is used to depict a point of time in the past, not a period: example:
Correct: Since Wednesday…
Wrong: Since three days…
Since “characters” is inanimate, “who” cannot be used to refer to “characters”.
E. Correct. Having + past participle means that the person referred to have already done the action. “Having gained” is correctly used to indicate that the game designers have already gained experience.
Instead of “since”, “over” is correctly used to depict a period of time.
