Apply for Fall 2011

Gender - Female
Nationality - Indian

GMAT - 730(Q49, V41)
Education:
Undergrad - Business with Computer Application GPA - 3.89 - (University Rank holder and College topper)
Grad - Corporate Secretaryship GPA - 3.47

WE- 4.2 yrs (presently not working)

Worked in one of the largest Bank in India for Retail Banking Group as Asst.Manager -I and lead a team of 7 in retail Liabilities( transaction, clearing processes). Acted as a super user to streamline process in major IT implementation of "Services and Money Transfer System for International Transactions". Did Vendor Management where to integrate both bank and vendor service agent and also worked in the internal auditors group where to audit regional processing centers of the bank.

EC:
Participated in annual community services at work place
Participated NSS activities and attended booth Camps and also a Committee Member of KGC(Keep-Green Campus) during under-graduation
Was involved in a local girl's education campaign against the child labor in match industries. was actively participated during 1999 - 2002
University Basket Ball team player and actively involved in sports

Why MBA:
As my goal is to hit a career in Investment Banking, MBA in top B-School will definitely help to do a transition from Retail Banking to Investment Banking.

Long term Goal - Start an educational institution to evolve higher education for women in my native home where still girls are not allowed to think about a higher education.

Traget B-Schools:

Columbia, Stern, Wharton, Kellogg, MIT
But narrow line to Columbia/Wharton for Capital market and investment management stream.

Im wondering how to convince adcoms about my gap in WE for the past 2 years. Do they accept my reason of family and visa status or else I need to add some more weight to my app by re-writing GMAT. Will it affect my app in pooling system.

Im planning to apply in R1 itself, kindly suggest me whether I can point out the reason of WE GAP while in the essay itself or not to.

Any valuable suggestions and help would be appreciated in advance.

Hi,

To communicate WE gap, you should explain that you were spending time on a worthwhile activity either because this activity creates a logical link for your long term goal or this activity builds some skill sets that can be used in your future career.
