Hi guys!

As written in the title, I gave my first test today and I scored a 640 (Q47, V31) which is well below my target score (which is 710+).
I studied through the whole TTP (I finished the whole course always reaching the target score for each practice test) but apparently I kind of suck (compared to the target score I need).

What should I do now? How can I get better at verbal before the classic gmat expires?
Also, what should I do for quant? I studied through TTP and I never bombed any test, always got the right score also for their hard test but during the exam I had a lot of difficulty. Should I just practice a lot with the OG bundle to get used to the way questions are posed?

Any advice is welcome!

Regardsssssssssss

First off, a 640 is definitely a decent starting point, so don't be too hard on yourself. It's all about identifying where you can improve, especially in verbal. Is there a specific section in verbal that's giving you trouble? Focusing on that area could be really beneficial. Also, practicing with mocks can help you get more comfortable with the test-taking experience.

Hi Matt,

You mentioned two things that stuck with me:

1) You experienced a drop off in score from practice tests to actual test
2) You're wondering if you should just do lots more OG questions

Here are two things that you should consider directly related to the above two things:
1) Practice to Actual drop offs are usually about test taking skills / solving strategies. If your problem was concepts, then you'd be struggling in practice tests too.
2) Practice problem and practice test effectiveness drops drastically as you get deeper into your prep. Especially on retakes.
UNLESS, you know exactly what your gaps are and do practice sets that specifically target those problems.

We can get you well along the way to solving both those problem with our FREE diagnostic session with a live coach. If you're interested, DM me to setup a quick 10 min intro call to set it up.
