I just finished reading Bolles' ever-famous "What Color Is Your Parachute," and I've just completed the ever-notorious 'Flower Diagram.'
My interpretation of that ultimate self-assessment indicates that I should get myself involved with web design, with an emphasis on interactive media.
I currently do very, very light HTML/CSS/ASP editing (most of my work consists of systems administration and development, though I'm getting started on writing some small applications in .NET). I'd enjoy building a web site independently (if I really had a reason to do so).
For many years, I had envisioned myself wanting to run a small firm involved with interactive media; and had always thought that an MBA in entrepeneurship would be my ticket there. But for the past few days, I've been having second thoughts about pursuing it -- even in the midst of working on GMAT math problems! It all came to a head last night, when I discovered that NYU offers a Graduate Program in Interactive Telecommunications Program at the Tisch School of Arts. Some of the thesis projects I've seen are a bit over my head, but their catalogue of coursework is extremely appealing.
So, now the $120,000 question is this: Do I pursue the MBA (which may get me a job of some kind, though one not guaranteed to be in the industry I now covet), or the MPS (which will greatly expose me to the industry I now covet, but may not yield job security).
Should it be Stern, or Tisch?
