I am new to the forum. Am glad to have finally found a forum with so many aspring and talented applicants!
I plan to take the GMAT for the first time in the summer/early fall. I have the following questions:
1) If you take the test multiple times, do B-Schools only look at the highest score (i.e. combination of Verbal and Quantative)?
2) Do you have to apply for school during the same application year you take the GMAT? Can you take the GMAT one year and then formally apply the next year? How would B-Schools look at someone who, say, took the GMAT 2006 and then uses the 2006 score to apply during 2009-2010 application year?
3) Is it mandatory to submit school codes when you take the GMAT? Can you wait till you get GMAT scores and then decide afterwards which schools to submit the scores?

Some say that top schools look at your average performance if you had taken more than 5 times... some schools don't bother about the no. of times you have taken GMAT.

The school will look at the single highest score, regardless of the score combination.
i.e. if you get a 48/30 (640) and a 35/40 (620) the school will only look at the 48/30.

Your score is good for 5 years. When you took it is irrelevant as long as your score is still valid.

The GMAC will thank you for the $28/school fee you pay to send afterwords. You are given five schools included with your GMAT fee. If you don't use the five schools at your exam sitting, you will pay $28 for each school you wish to submit your scores to.
