Hi, I was accepted to Georgetown's full time program with a scholarship and I was wondering if anybody had any insight as to whether it would be a good option to break into banking. I don't have banking experience, my experience is in sales, but I want to use the MBA to get into an investment bank and work my way up. I see Georgetown has a great finance program and a number of people get hired by jp morgan and Citi, but I'm not sure if it's because they came from banking already or if it's hard to move up in a bank if you come from georgetown. I am 26 and waitlisted at NYU and am considering applying again next year if I decide to pass this year.
Can't say for sure, but I would hit up their investment banking or finance club and ask them the following:
1) What banks recruit at Gtown
2) What % of students recruiting for banking received internship offers
3) What % of summer interns in banking received full time offers
They should have those figures readily available. Also, be very very sure to confirm the banking jobs people get from Gtown are actually in IBD, and not mid or back office jobs.
