I am studying the "GMAT Club Ultimate Grammar" book. Between pages 107 and 111, there are some verbs and adjectives mentioned which are used with only infinitives while some other ones used with only gerunds. Does one really need to memorize those verbs and adjectives? Is that the only way to completely suceed in questions about them? If not, does anyone have a suggestion?
Thankfully for the most part, most verbs/verb-forms are followed by
infinitive (except for some verbs/verb-forms such as deny, avoid, discuss etc.).
Also, I have come across
very very few official sentences in which two options have gerund vs infinitive as the
only difference (an exception is option D vs E in
this sentence).
That being the case, you can use
other splits, to arrive at the right answer.
