I am going to be starting the MBA program this fall at USC and wanted advice and direction. I was an engineer for 6 years and then worked as a business analyst for the last year. Is it possible or wise to go into pe/vc without any prior experience? If I were to follow this path, what should I look out for in terms of opportunities to make myself more appealing when recruiting starts?
Both really difficult industries to get into, generally they are looking for at least some experience in finance if not their specific industry. Both industries are very small which makes them particularly competitive. I would aim to create an alternative resume via internships and experiential learning opportunities so you can better position yourself for FT recruiting.
