This is a very general question I wanted to ask out of curiosity, but has any MBA applicant here (in any application cycle) been admitted off a waiting list in either July or August? Or has anyone known of anyone who has been?

It's something I'm curious about since I'm still on a few waiting lists for the C/O 2016. Since it's so late now, I'm not expecting anything anymore, but I was just curious to see if this is actually a possibility. (I do have a school in hand I'd be happy to attend, and have already planned to do so if none of my waiting lists work out)

This is a very general question I wanted to ask out of curiosity, but has any MBA applicant here (in any application cycle) been admitted off a waiting list in either July or August? Or has anyone known of anyone who has been?

I am sure there are but the number of people admitted during July and August are few and far between. The odds are stacked against you. You are effectively hoping

a) You are at the top of a reduced waitlist; and
b) Someone drops out last minute

Most admissions teams are already starting work on next year's class and going on admissions events around the world. Throw in that schools start class sometime from mid August to start of September time is against you unfortunately. Typically there are pre-term activities before that.

If I recall Brandon (current Booth student) was a late WL admit I think.

I was admitted off the wait-list a few weeks ago, at the end of June. It is a long shot, but keep sending updates and stay in touch with adcom. At the very worst, you'll be in a good position to reapply next cycle.

Congratulations!!

It does help a bit, gives me some hope that the game isn't completely over...even if the chances are remote. Hey, no one thought LeBron would even think about going back to Cleveland, so who knows. :P

And thanks for the feedback domotron and jackanatic (congrats on your admit BTW!). I definitely agree, it's a big long shot now- I think for the sake of my sanity, and to prepare myself to attend the other school I've been admitted to, I'm probably going to need to mentally assume they are dings, and move on (basically, expect nothing will come out of it). It's so difficult when it's still on the table though!
