Solution

Given:
• An alphabet of 26 letters, with 21 consonants and 5 vowels

To find:
• Approximately how many three-letter words can be formed with a vowel as the middle letter and a consonant as the last letter

Approach and Working:
If we assume the word like this: (1) (2) (3)
• Number of possibilities for the first place (1) = 26
• Number of possibilities for the second place (2) = 5
• Number of possibilities for the third place (3) = 21

Therefore, total possible cases = 26 * 5 * 21 = 2730

The nearest option is option C (2500)

Hence, the correct answer is option C.
