I am just wondering if anyone knows what type of changes will the GMAT have starting 2006. If people decide to take their GMAT in 2006, can they still study from the OG guide, or are the type of questions and format gonig to completely change?

There aren't going to be any major changes, from what I've read. Go to https://www.mba.com to get the latest info -- that's the official site.

From what I gather, the two biggest changes are the interface (it will no longer look like PowerPrep, but instead like GMATPrep) and the fact that you'll get a wipe-off board and marker instead of scratch paper and a pencil.
The wipe-off board issue alone is enough for me to be glad I got it over with already, since us lefties don't tend to do too well with things that erase when you rub over the words...
