I’m glad you reached out, and I’m happy to help. Looking at your study routine, I see that you are following a plan that I call “practice first and figure the rest out later.” In other words, you are doing practice problems before understanding the concepts on which those problems are based, and thus you are trying to learn solely from reading solutions to problems. Following such a study plan will lead to disorganized studying and ultimately hold you back from improving your quant and verbal skills. Thus, in addition to using your current resources, you may consider using a resource that allows you FIRST to learn the concepts and strategies related to GMAT quant and verbal and SECOND to practice with a large number of realistic questions.

If you decide to use some new prep materials, check out the reviews here on GMAT Club of the best quant and verbal courses.

You also may find my article with more information regarding
how to score a 700+ on the GMAT helpful.

Feel free to reach out with any further questions.

Good luck!

Hi miridom,

Many GMATers feel some type of frustration during their studies, so you're not alone. Thankfully, the GMAT is a consistent, predictable Exam, so you CAN train to score at a higher level.

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) Is the 510 you referred to from a practice CAT/mock or from the Official GMAT?
2) How long have you studied in total? Over the last 3 months, how many hours did you typically study each week?
3) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
4) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,

Hi miridom,

Have you taken any coaching till now? or Did you prep on your own by solving OG's?

Your GMAT score splits represent that you need to start from basics, i.e. concept building then go ahead with mocks.

Have you given any full-length mocks ?? if yes, please share the mocks score.

Regards,
Rajat

Hi Rich,
These are my mock test score, I have taken about 4 mocks and my scores are very stagnant around 510-600. I am not able to cross this limit.
I study on weekdays for about 3hours top and weekends i spend more time around 7-8 hours.
I use the OG guide and the veritas platform for my mocks. I also use the study material i got from Crack Verbal.
I will be applying to B schools next year so I wanted to get the GMAT aspect of the admissions before that. EMPOWERgmatRichC

Yes i did go through the practice quizzes on veritas. I am able to score well on those but my full length tests are taking a drastic dip. I'm not sure if its the pressure or some other factor. In bit of a confused state. As with Mahatten prep I'm not really sure which resource would be helpful for me personally. Do u have any specific guidance on this part? sjuniv32

I think you should read the concepts apart from going through the practice quizzes on veritas books.

Have tried Manhattan Prep Quant and verbal foundations? I used to be in a similar situation. These two books helped me a lot.
Right now, Manhattan Prep made the soft copies of the books free in amazon. (I don't know its a offer for now or they will always be free.)

There are certainly self-study courses that could help. Have you checked out some course reviews here on GMAT Club?
