HI anshriv91,

I have an important question. How were you scoring on your official GMAC practice exams? Can you provide the score breakdowns from those practice exams?

Here are the details -

Studies:
1) On what date did you take the Official GMAT? -- 20th November
2) Over the last 3 months, how many hours did you typically study each week?
- Say from mid Jul-22 until exam , I was putting around 2-2.5hrs on weekdays and 4-5 hrs on weekends
3) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
- I had Magoosh Prep for learning & practice. For CATs, I took MGMAT & official ones.
4) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

My scores were fluctuating around 620-650
Quant scores in Manhattan was varying - around 42-44 while verbal for around 35-37
Same score range for official mocks too !

Goals:
5) What is your overall goal score? - 680-700
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?
Planning for 2023 intake for Indian B Schools

Hi anshriv91,

To give you a clear picture of what you can do next to improve from 640 to 700, I have recorded this short video response. Here is the link:

anshriv91_response - Watch Video

Here is the summary of the video:

1.You need a precise plan of action and metrics to track your progress during the next 3 weeks or so. Identify your current ability scores in each sub-section, set targets accordingly, and estimate the time for improvement.

2.Your current score indicates a skill gap. We must fix that.

3.If you can put in 4 hours a day for the next 30 days, improvement from 640 to 700 is possible with a high degree of certainty. We can have a better time estimate if we generate your ESR from one of our SIGma-X mocks.

4.Figure out your weaknesses in each sub-section. Determine the reason(s) for them - concept gaps and/or skill gaps. Accordingly, bridge those gaps.

5.Track your improvement to ensure you are on the right path. This is the most important aspect (this step is mandatory if you need to improve in less time).

Here is the link to our SIGma-X mock test to generate your ESR as recommended in the video.

I’d like to leave you with a couple of examples for some motivation. Arshita improved from 620 to 750 in 30 days. And, Jayati scored a 690 in 1 month.

If you wish to work with us and want to understand the recommended strategy in more detail, feel free to write to us at [email protected] or book a one-on-one zoom session.

Hope this helps!

Hello GMAT experts!

I've given the GMAT online exam recently and scored a 640 on it (Q: 47, V: 31). My target score was around 700 and I have spent a good amount of time(almost a year - on & off) for my preparation. With the application deadlines around the corner, I am planning to retake it within 3 weeks or so.

A bit of background on my profile - I have around 10 yrs of experience in IT and looking forward to pursuing 1 year MBA from Indian B schools.

I am well acquainted with the GMAT topics so please suggest if retaking the exam soon at this stage is a good option? Also please advise on what I should be doing right. I appreciate all the help and support I can get !!!

PN: I just realized I cannot apply an ESR to an online exam which isn't very helpful to assess my exam performance

Thanks.

The big issue I see is that you have yet to score 700 on your practice exams, but yet you want to take the GMAT in 3 weeks. You see what I mean?
