Hello GMAT experts!
I've given the GMAT online exam recently and scored a 640 on it (Q: 47, V: 31). My target score was around 700 and I have spent a good amount of time(almost a year - on & off) for my preparation. With the application deadlines around the corner, I am planning to retake it within 3 weeks or so.
A bit of background on my profile - I have around 10 yrs of experience in IT and looking forward to pursuing 1 year MBA from Indian B schools.
I am well acquainted with the GMAT topics so please suggest if retaking the exam soon at this stage is a good option? Also please advise on what I should be doing right. I appreciate all the help and support I can get !!!
PN: I just realized I cannot apply an ESR to an online exam which isn't very helpful to assess my exam performance

First off, a 640/Q47 is a solid Score, so it could be enough to get you into your first-choice School. As such, a retest might not be necessary. Depending on the Schools that you plan to apply to, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement (and the more time that you have to act on that advice, the better). With a Q47/V31, you will likely need to hone some skills in BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections before you will be able to consistently score at the 700+ level - and that training will likely take more than another 3 weeks of study time. Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for for your studies, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:
Studies:
1) On what date did you take the Official GMAT?
2) Over the last 3 months, how many hours did you typically study each week?
3) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
4) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
Goals:
5) What is your overall goal score?
6) When are you planning to apply to Business Schoo and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

Here's someone who retook a V31 to a V40 in about 30 days. They took a bit of tutoring (6 hours) but mention a variety of resources and tips you may find helpful. Perhaps working with a study buddy may be something to consider.
