Hey guys,
Just took the GMAT and scored a 680 (Q44, V39) -- I'm quite disappointed with my quant score given that I've scored between 46 and 49 on several MGMAT and GMATPrep tests. I expected my verbal score to range from 38 to 40, so I'm satisfied with that score. My main concerns are whether I should retake the GMAT, and if I don't retake the GMAT what schools you believe I'd have a chance of gaining admission (Top 5, Top 10, Top 20)?
Nationality : American
Age: 22
GMAT : 680 (Q44, V39)
Academics:
- GPA: 3.8/4.0
- School: BBA from a Top 2 School (US News 2014)
- Major: Finance / Accounting
Work Experience:
Will be working in Silicon Valley at a top three social media company within business strategy and corporate development for the next 2+ years

Hi there,
While a 680 is respectable, especially given you've got the time (i.e. not applying right now), yes I'd encourage a re-take! I taught and tutored GMAT prep for 8 years and saw a lot of improvement occur from 660-680 range with some extra prep or sometimes just one additional sitting of the exam. If you score decently higher on practice tests, than I'd encourage you to re-take sooner rather than later, just keep up a bit of prep, do another practice exam or two and really analyze it and review it thoroughly to learn from mistakes, and you may see a jump just from having a better day or mindset etc. Schools take the highest score and it's fairly common to take it more than once. Good luck!
