Hi experts, writing this as you must have seen such cases as mine while working with a large number of students and hence you might be able to help me here.
Trying to keep as precise as possible.
Took GMAT a couple of months ago. Scored 710. Q49v38. Though my mocks were around 700-710 (GMATPrep 3 - 710, 4 - 700), I wasn't quite happy as I had been aiming at 740+.
Decided to give another try. Took the 2nd GMAT a week back. 700 (Q48V37). GmatPrep 5 & 6 both were 750 (Q50V42, Q50V41). Had studied verbal extensively between the two GMATs. Extremely confused how despite the extra prep, how could I score even lesser than first GMAT.
Generated the ESR for the second attempt only. Verbal - RC was 96% but CR 64% and SC 71%. This was shocking. I had studied SC & CR so much. Had finished the official questions on GMATclub with great accuracy towards the end of the practice.
In CR I used to take a lot of time (>2min), hence decided to go with a calculated guess if I get stuck between two options. Guess this didn't help me.
SC - 71% is a bad shock. I don't know what to do now. My accuracy in the official questions has been pretty good (>90% in 600 level and >80% in 700 level). ESR says grammar was 88% accurate and communication ~55%.
Quant - 33% in geometry and 60-75% in the rest of the sections (except ratios, in which the score is 100%). Took a lot of time (>2 min) in DS questions. Problem solving accuracy is just around 60%.
In both verbal and quant, my first quarter of questions went almost perfect (88% correct in verbal and 100% correct in quant), but as the test progressed, my number of mistakes increased. I believe time pressure is the biggest culprit. In quant, my last quarter has >75% answers incorrect.
I genuinely want to take GMAT again as the schools I have been targeting require 730-740 and I am also targeting some scholarships.
In your experience, what should I do now if I were to take GMAT after a month or so. Have already exhausted most of the verbal official questions. In quant, I feel I forget the concepts even after practicing a lot of questions. Plus I am taking more than average time for solving quant questions. In verbal, CR seems like a mountain to me right now.
Pls help.
