For Verbal, if you feel your fundamentals are solid consider working on your solving approach. May boost your score a bit. Had a student for example also with a V41 go to a V45 in less than 2 weeks. Perhaps work with a study buddy with strong Verbal skills to see how they approach the section.

For Quant, consider using time markers for time management.

Hi gg2022.

To score higher in quant, you could master one topic at a time using the TTP streaks method until you're strong in enough topics that you'll score Q50 reliably.

For learn how to use the TTP streaks method, see this post.

The Best GMAT Practice Methods

Regarding verbal, I bet you can get some insights from the following post that you can use to drive your verbal score higher.

Hi gg2022,

First off, a 710/Q47 is an outstanding overall Score, so you can apply to any Business Schools that interest you. As such, a retest is probably not necessary. Depending on the Schools that you plan to apply to, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement (and the more time that you have to act on that advice, the better). There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

https://gmatclub.com/forum/ask-admissio ... tants-124/

There's certainly no harm in continuing to study and retesting, but before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). If you purchase the ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you (and you can feel free to email it directly to me if you don't want to publicly post it).

Hi all,

I just gave my first attempt two days ago, and got a 710 - V41, Q47. This was pretty similar to my last three test scores on the official site.
I know I have the potential to get a Q50 (did so in the third practice test). I feel the quant went terribly because I was too anxious initially and took forever for simpler questions (to avoid silly mistakes) and ended up guessing THE LAST 6.

This was the worst strategy ever. I need help with speed on quant and if people found anything useful. I’ve done all MGMAT books but did not do the advanced quant in a lot of detail (regret this now). Any other tips on how to improve to Q50?

On verbal, I’m not sure where I can do better so waiting for the ESR.

Hi gg2022

710 is a great score. But if you feel you can take it up to 750, then I can definitely help you with that. The first thing in that process would be to identify your weak areas. It's just that you have to understand what went wrong and make sure that you don't repeat the same in the actual test.

GMAT quant tests only specific types of questions from each topic. So, if you know those questions types and how to solve those using the right methodology, then you can score well on GMAT quant without spending additional time. So, I would suggest you to not ignore any topics you are struggling with. Instead,
  • focus on learning the right methodology,
  • get to know the question types and then
  • practice a few questions to solidify the learning.

You may get some helpful tips from these videos to score Q50+:

What should be the next step?

Honestly, to suggest you anything specific, I would need a little more information because I ask a lot of questions to understand the student's approach. So, it would be better if you can tell me your approach you followed for each of the question types so that I can suggest you which areas to work on. I understand that it would be difficult for you to write it here. So, a better way could to connect over a zoom conference call and discuss the same. That way, we can solve a few questions together, a process that helps me identify the flaw in your approach if any. Once I understand that, I can suggest you a solid study plan for the next couple of weeks.

So, if you wish to connect over a call, you can use the below link to schedule one.
