Hello, everyone. My name is Justin Lee. I'm from Taiwan, and I major in Finance and Business Administration (double-majored) in National Taiwan University(World top 70). I just finished my fourth GMAT class online with 730, V38, Q50, IR 8 but without AWA score. (but I get 5.0 in previous uncancelled physical tests) I will apply for an MBA degree in 4-5 years. Currently, I am a senior student who will graduate in June, 2021 and got a front office offer from world top 3 asset management company. My dream schools are CBS and Wharton. I am wondering whether M7 really cares about AWA score. Actually, I took 4 GMAT tests in total, 2 of which are cancelled. In another uncancelled test, I got gmat 690 with AWA 5.0. Some people tell me that schools will see all my valid score, so I don't have to worry that the online test doesn't include AWA. However, I am not sure whether schools really count my previous AWA score. I am here to ask for opinion and suggestion. Thank you and wish you all the best.

Hello, leeemowlimeow. I agree with what has been written above. Not only can a school not hold a lack of an AWA score against you in a COVID scenario—maybe you are only able to take the online exam where you live—but I have had clients who have gotten into M7s with AWA and IR scores that are not standouts. A 4.0 in AWA is just fine, as is a 5.0 in IR. (And sometimes even those numbers can be negotiated.)
I would suggest getting some work experience under your belt, as it sounds you are keen on doing anyway. Within five years (since your score will expire thereafter), with a 730 GMAT™ score in tow, you ought to stand a chance at many top business schools. Bottom line: a valid GMAT™ score is considered valid for five years. Your application essays will go far beyond anything that an AWA score would provide to an admissions committee.

Hi
The AWA score should not be an issue. If you want, you can mention this in your optional essay, though we don't see this being a problem at all.

Hi, My bigger concern will be that your GMAT score should not expire by the time you are ready to apply (validity is 5 years). Just keep that in mind.
