Hi folks,
Being an android user myself, i feel the need to have an app which addresses the needs of this (android)fast growing mobile application platform.
Also I ,being a java web developer, preparing for GMAT, and android being a framework based on java itself , i am now more and more inclined to work on android applications.May be, i can be of help to this wonderful GMAT community somewhere down the line.

The overall market is slightly different. Nielsen's data says 48% of all smartphone owners use an Android device, with 32.1% using iPhones, 11.6% using BlackBerrys, and 8% using "other."

Now, as far as Google Android vs. Apple iOS market shares evolution over the last 3 years,
you have to look at several parameters:
* you must consider smartphones and tablets separately
* you probably need to look at the different age groups for each as well
* consider income levels

In a simplistic way:
* smartphones: after losing its top spot early last year, Apple iOS regained market shares thanks to the iPhone 4S
and closing up on Android OS
* tablets: the iPad has been the top dog since Apple created the market. Even though their market share is eroding,
they are benefiting from the fragmentation of the Android ecosystem.
