Hi GMAT Clubbers 
I did research about rankings, for quite some time now and periodically referred to GMAT Club list as one of indicators, when you need to decide between two, three or more schools, by replying/helping to fortunate admitted students.
I usually referred to that list, describing it as opinion based of GMAT Club users, which is fine.
However, I took closer look today and find possibly some anomalies.
Now, if list is formed purely by number of applications submitted to particular school by GMAT Club members, that's fine, still I think list based on level of marks and number of reviews combined, will be much more useful as guidance to prospective applicants.
Now, currently in list we have :
Harvard Business School as number 1, based on 36 reviews with average mark of (4.7).
Kellogg is second with same mark (4.7) but with 46 reviews.
Wharton is third, same mark (4.7), 24 reviews.
Now, Booth comes as 4. with same overall/average mark of (4.7) but based on most reviews, 58 reviews, that carries more weight, which to me sounds like Booth should be above Wharton, Harvard and Kellogg (Kellogg should be second, based on average mark + number of reviews that produced that mark) ?
Sloan (MIT) is 5. with (4.7) based on 26 reviews.
Stanford is 6. with mark of (4.7) and 15 reviews provided.
Somehow, Indian School of Business comes on 7. place with average mark of (4.4) based on 16 reviews ?
Again somehow, INSEAD is below ISB with average mark of (4.7) based on 32 reviews, on 8. place.
Columbia is 9. with mark (4.5) and 22 reviews.
Then we have Haas (UC Berkeley) that should be number 1 (in this top 10 list), based on highest mark of (4.8) with 18 reviews provided.
I would not go into details for all 40 schools, since you get the picture.
My question is how this list works ?
Is this just based on number of applications submitted to particular school ?
Am I missing something here ?
Maybe this list was not updated lately, position of schools doesn't seem to change through time.
Does anybody else think, like I do, that we should have list based on quality evaluated in mark multiplied by number of reviews provided ?
For instance, if we have same mark but one schools has more reviews, that school should be above in list.
Also, to establish some thresholds, like you need some number of reviews to be in same category, like 20-30, so we don't have case where one school with just one review and (maybe very biased) mark of 5 should be better placed than clearly much better school with 30 reviews and overall mark of 4.7.
The number of reviews provided, also tells a story about the quality of school in so many ways.

That list is based on popularity, which is defined by the number of applicants in the previous application season.
It does not take reviews into consideration per se.
