Given that total weight after mixing = \(24 kg \)
Let x & y be weights of \(N-K & N-P\) mixtures
From the given details then we have,
\(0.4x + 0.2y = 0.35 *24\)
We also have \(x + y = 24; x = 24 - y\)
Substituting we get \(0.4(24 - y) + 0.2y = 8.4 kg \)
\(y = 0.8/0.2 = 4\) kg; \(x = 24 - 4 = 20 kg \)
Now we have phosphorus content of second mixture(N-P) \(= .8y = .8*4 = 3.2 kg\)
Correct answer is Option A

solving
2 * B1 + B2 = 42

There are two blend
1: 40% Nitrogen + 60% potassium
2: 20% Nitrogen + 80% phosphorus
Lets only consider Nitrogen concentration
40% Nitrogen is mixed with 20% Nitrogen to make 35% Nitrogen.
By weighted average or crossing method we can get
40 - 35 = 5
35 - 15 = 15
We have to interchange the proportion in this method
So proportion of first blend to second blend is 15:5 that is 3:1
And total weight of this is 24 kg
And phosphorus is only in second blend which is 24*1/4 = 6 kg
We have 6 kg of second blend which contain 80% phosphorus
6*80/100 = 4.8 Kg of phosphorus.
Hence option D
